The Child Center of NY announces the opening of its new Head Start Center on 60-02 Roosevelt Ave. in Woodside on Wed., 4/18 @ 11 AM. Queens Borough President Helen Marshall & Speaker of the City Council Christine Quinn will be at the opening ceremonies of this new facility. The program available to children ages 3-5, which reaches out to 85 children from low-income families, is to increase child competency & help children who may have developmental difficulties prior to going into kindergarten.

Former North Carolina Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. will be the keynote speaker at the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the National MS Society’s annual Dinner of Champions. The fundraising event will be held September 4 at the Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.

The Better Business Bureau of Eastern North Carolina will host its second “Secure Your ID” Day on Saturday, September 20. The local shredding events are free to the public and will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Raleigh’s Ridgewood Shopping Center and Falls River Town Center.
