Oasis Hong Kong Airlines (Oasis) is set to launch its in-flight duty free shopping service, starting this September, offering its passengers a wide range of world-class products.

Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon had to raise his voice over the hubbub at a lavish launch party for Oasis Hongkong Airlines at Yaletown's Goldfish restaurant recently. "All you people talking by the window there," he said to no apparent effect, "we're going to draw a business-class ticket to Hong Kong. So, if you don't hear your name, you're going to miss it."

Since Vancouver-Hong Kong tickets went on sale May 8, Oasis reports that sales have been strong. Flights go six days a week, with regular low fares starting at $299 in economyOasis and $1,399 in businessOasis.

Low-cost carrier Oasis Hong Kong Airlines Ltd. has appointed a Korean sales agent in an effort to strengthen its operations here, the company announced.

Celebrating the launch, Oasis gave away 1,000 free one-way economy class trips to Hong Kong and is also offering a "Buy One Get One Free" promotion for business class passengers who travel between June 28 and October 27, 2007.

El Al has signed on with Compucall Web Marketing, a firm specializing in the travel industry, to improve their web site and broaden their visibility on the Internet.
