The Ledbury Restaurant Review: Why Fine Dining Is Always Worth The Splurge In This Notting Hill Landmark

First founded in 2005, The Ledbury was a well-known name in the food world. Under the helm of Australian chef Brett Graham, the restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars — until it was closed in 2020 because of the pandemic-prompted lockdowns. In this The Ledbury review, we dive into what makes it always worth the splurge when you dine in the recently reopened Notting Hill landmark.

Revamped, For The Better

When The Ledbury closed its doors almost two years ago, foodies in the area and beyond thought that the move was permanent. So when news of its reopening first circulated in the summer of 2021, it offered a certain kind of excitement for its patrons and casual consumers alike.

These White Walls design studio led the redesigning. The complete makeover also meant reducing its 55-seating capacity by 10. Not only that, many other The Ledbury reviews out there show that they also got rid of the a la carte option in the eight-course menu. This way, Graham and his kitchen team would be able to showcase the food of the British countryside better.

Still evident is Graham’s particular affection for mushrooms. Part of their eight-course menu is the Mushrooms from the Cabinet (which also comprises potato, yeast, and rosemary).

Their tasting menu also includes Cornish Crab (cultured cream and frozen citrus), Cured Mackerel (with white beetroot and seaweed), Warm Hen’s Egg (brassicas, pig’s trotter, and truffle), Hampshire Trout (white asparagus, trout roe Hollandaise and Sorrell), Japanese Sika Hind (wild garlic, baked celeriac, and smoked bone marrow), Verjus meringue, and Jerusalem artichoke tart.

All these dishes are presented in line with The Ledbury’s ode-to-the-countryside theme, making them even more appealing to the diners.

While the food in itself is commendable, what makes the restaurant even more buzz-worthy is its extensive wine list. With the guidance of a sommelier, you can find the perfect drink that would complement your meals and complete your dining experience.

While The Ledbury has historically attracted opulent Londoners and true-blue food obsessives, even casual consumers who wish to get a taste of a Michelin-starred British countryside restaurant would find it worthy to spend money just to be able to dine in this Notting Hill-set food hub. The acclaim that the restaurant has earned — along with the fact that it has only recently been reopened to the public — being able to eat in this place will give you a certain badge of pride. And the great news is, the quality of their cooking and the place’s overall ambience do not, indeed, disappoint.
